COLORADO, DESTINATION: ART! 35th Annual Sculpture in the Park by Wendy L. Pitton R. A collector’s tradition, Sculpture in the Park is a destination that continues to exhibit a level of exceptional artistry and touted as “America’s largest outdoor juried sculpture show and sale” on their website. Loveland is a natural scenic beauty and combined with colorful, delicate and powerful sculptures it is truly a destination for not only collectors, but novice alike. As Sculpture in the Park celebrates 35 years of bringing the sculptural arts to the public there are several artists that are celebrating along with them a long standing of being selected through the juried process. Carolyn L. Barlock will join Sculpture in the Park for her 22nd year. As she explained, “I am honored every year to participate.” Barlock had an exciting 2017, “My friend Father Andre arranged to have his Holiness Pope Francis accept a chalice. The chalice was presented during the International Assembly Conference of the Aperolic Union of the Clergy on November 16, 2017 in the Hall of the Consistory at the Vatican, I felt so honored and blessed,” smiles Barlock.
Barlock has found inspiration from everything around her and has allowed herself to “have fun” with her art as she states it, which is why the work presented at this year’s exhibition is so special. From frogs to lilies to dragon flies that look as though they are about to fly off the vase, Barlock continues to elevate her artistic style with her chiseled luster porcelain. Exploring the different styles of porcelain that Barlock is able to locate has only added to the artistic dimension that she creates; nothing is out of this artists reach; goblets, vases, jewelry boxes, decanters and so much more. read more...
